Funeral Services

Cremation Services

We arrange bookings, paperwork, transport and ash care for Lakelands, Shannon, Glasnevin, Mount Jerome and other crematoria so families can focus on the ceremony.

Families can host the main funeral in Sligo before travelling privately or with mourners to the crematorium. We handle medical forms, permits and bookings, and ensure ashes are returned respectfully.

Timeframes & transport

Paperwork is usually complete within 24 hours when doctors are available. Lakelands or Shannon typically have immediate availability; Dublin venues can require longer. Travel time from Sligo to Cavan is 1 hour 30 minutes and we can arrange refreshments for family members making the journey.

What we can provide

  • Doctor/coroner Forms A & B plus cremation permit filing.
  • Preferred crematorium booking and webcast arrangements.
  • Advice on urns, keepsakes, scattering permits and memorial options.
  • Same-day or next-day collection of ashes with respectful presentation.
  • Support organising ash interments, memorial services or transport overseas.

Step-by-step support

  1. Arrange ceremony in Sligo - church, chapel or civil venue with viewing as usual.
  2. Coordinate documentation: Funeral Director completes Form A, next of kin completes Form B, attending doctor completes Form C and/or coroner completes Form D to progress to crematorium authorisation.
  3. Plan travel: immediate family may accompany the hearse or follow in limousines; short committals can be streamed.
  4. Return of ashes: delivered to the family home, chapel or directly to a cemetery for burial.
  5. Memorial planning: select urns, jewellery or scattering events with our aftercare team.

Can we witness the committal?

Yes. Families may attend the committal room or chapel, light candles and place flowers before the curtain closes.

How soon are ashes available?

Usually within three working days; sooner if requested. We document custody at every stage.

Are religious services allowed?

All major denominations now permit cremation. We ensure liturgical preferences are respected both in Sligo and at the crematorium.

Can we split or share ashes between family members?

Yes. We can arrange keepsake urns or jewellery and ensure ashes are portioned and documented carefully.

What if we later decide on burial of ashes?

We can organise an interment ceremony, update memorials and coordinate clergy or celebrants even months or years after the cremation.
