Privacy Policy
This statement explains how we collect, use and protect personal information shared through feehilys.ie, including condolences, contact requests, testimonials and the Funeral Assistant chat.
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Seán Feehily Funeral Services collects, uses and protects personal information when you browse feehilys.ie, submit condolences, contact us, share testimonials or use our Funeral Assistant chat. It applies to data gathered through this site alongside any arrangements made directly with our team.
Our commitment
Seán Feehily Funeral Services is committed to safeguarding the personal information in our care. We maintain a compliant data protection programme and regularly update policies to meet the demands of GDPR and Irish Data Protection legislation.
We design our services around privacy by default, collecting only what is required to serve families, respond to enquiries and meet legal obligations. Data received from families is treated with the strictest confidence.
Website visits and cookies
When you visit our site we receive standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, referring site and pages viewed) to keep the site secure, detect fraud and understand what content is most helpful.
We use Google Analytics to measure site performance. Google receives pseudonymised usage data (for example, page views, device type and approximate location derived from your IP address). We do not enable advertising or remarketing features and use the reports only to improve navigation and content.
We use Cloudflare Turnstile on forms to block spam; it briefly processes your IP address and browser signals to verify that a real visitor is submitting the form. These checks are used solely for security.
Cookies or local storage are used only where necessary, such as remembering your analytics consent and keeping preferences. You can control cookies through your browser settings, although some features may not work without them.
Condolences you submit
If you share a condolence we collect your name, address, optional email or phone number, your message and the related death notice details. We may also use IP addresses temporarily to prevent spam and abuse.
Condolence messages are stored in our condolence system, sent to our team by email and shared with the bereaved family. We may generate a printed or PDF copy for them. We do not use condolence details for marketing and you can ask us to amend or remove a message where feasible before it is shared.
Contact form enquiries
When you contact us through the site we collect your name, email address, optional phone number and your message so we can respond. Submissions are delivered to our team inbox and retained in our email system; basic logging (including IP address) may be used to rate limit requests and protect the service.
Contact details are not added to marketing lists and are only shared with team members who need them to handle your enquiry.
Testimonials
Testimonials collect your name, optional address and your review text, along with your consent for us to use it. Submissions are stored until reviewed by our team.
Once approved, your testimonial (and the name and location details you provided) may be published on feehilys.ie. We may contact you to verify your submission and you can request edits or removal at any time.
Funeral Assistant (AI chat)
When you use the Funeral Assistant, we store your messages, a session identifier and your IP address so we can provide replies, apply safety rules and enforce daily limits.
Your messages are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate and moderate responses. We retain conversation history in our systems to maintain context, investigate issues and improve the reliability of the service. Data from the assistant is not used for marketing or profiling, and we encourage you not to share sensitive medical or financial details in chat.
Information security
We take privacy extremely seriously. Our site uses SSL encryption and all data stored on our systems is fully encrypted. Strict password policies, restricted access controls and regular security reviews protect the information entrusted to us.
Data sharing and retention
We only share personal information with trusted processors who support our services (website hosting, email delivery, analytics, security verification and AI processing). They are bound by data protection agreements and may only use the data for our instructions.
We retain personal data only for as long as needed to fulfil the purpose you provided it (responding to an enquiry, passing condolences to a family, publishing testimonials) and to meet legal or regulatory obligations. You may request deletion or withdraw consent where applicable.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information and to object to processing or withdraw consent where we rely on it. Please contact us at info@feehilys.ie or write to Feehily's Funeral Home, Cartron Cross, Sligo if you wish to exercise these rights or have any privacy-related queries.
Changes to this policy
We may amend this policy from time to time to reflect changes in legislation or our services. Substantial updates will be communicated on this page. Continued use of our services signifies acceptance of the revised policy.
