Dr. James (Seamus) Healy

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Seamus Healy. I had the privilege of working for Seamus at Sligo General Hospital from 1998 to 2000, and I remember him as an exceptional clinician and an even more remarkable person. He was a wonderful boss, he was kind, approachable, and always striving to improve patient care through innovation and compassion. He created an environment where people felt supported and valued, and that made a lasting impact on me. When I first moved to Co. Leitrim, Seamus was incredibly welcoming and inclusive. He also showed such kindness to my young daughter, Jordyn, which I have never forgotten. Even years later, when we returned to Ireland from Australia, he would always make time to catch up with us, whether for a dinner or a warm hello. That generosity of spirit meant so much. Seamus was modest, intelligent, and deeply dedicated to his profession. He inspired many, including my daughter, who grew up hearing me speak so fondly of him and is now a doctor herself. On behalf of both of us, we are truly grateful for the kindness, encouragement, and care he showed us over the years. Our heartfelt condolences to Maura, Maria, Anne, Fionnuala, and all the family. I was very fond of Dr Seamus Healy, who I had met when I was a sitting in the back of my mum's car as we visited the Healy's house. He was a great family man and often worked long hours as he was dedicated to the medical needs of the community where he worked at Sligo General Hospital. He was very respected.
