Dr. Don C.F. Cotton,
Ecologist, Rahaberna, Sligo, January 13th 2022, peacefully at his home following a long illness bravely borne.
Predeceased by his son Martin. Dearly loved husband of Elaine and beloved father of Róisín and Aisling, dear brother of Charmian and brother-in-law of Eric and much loved brother-in-law and uncle. He will be sadly missed and remembered with love by all his family.
Go placidly amid the noise and haste
Reposing at Seán Feehilys Funeral Home, Cartron Cross, Sligo (F91EH98) on Saturday January 15th from 4pm to 5pm. Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Don on Sunday January 16th in Saint Columbas Church of Ireland, Drumcliffe, Sligo at 2pm. Burial follows in Rathcormac Cemetery.

Sincere sympathies to the Cotton family on the passing of Don. I am a former student of Sligo IT. Don opened our eyes to the amazing world of invertebrates that live under the rocks of our rivers and lakes. He was inspiring. May he RIP.

I fondly remember Sunday afternoon Birdspotting visits to various habitats around County Sligo in the 1980s, when I was new to the area. Don Cotton always had time to explain things in simple language to children & adults alike on such outings. My sympathies to his family & close friends.
