Very sorry to hear of the passing of Dr Bodeker. Have lots of fond and funny memories from our college years 1988-1991 both in Sligo RTC and also being the first year of students to go to Kempten. A group of us meet up every summer and inevitably talk about college days of which he is always part of the stories! On numerous occasions he joined us for these gatherings and always enjoyed hearing what we were all up to in life. A sincere gentleman who always had students best interests at heart, gained their respect, enjoyed the fun but fairly kept us on track. Most importantly, he cared. A lecturer who set the standard for other lecturers to follow and a positive impact on his students. Fond memories to have. . Condolences to all the family and may he Rest In Peace .Bis wir uns wieder treffen Hr Bodeker. Danke fur alles xx

I was deeply saddened to hear of Karls death. I missed him from the Church in recent times, but then it might have been because I was covid locked in a lot in Dublin. I think he knew that I had great respect for him. It upset me a lot this evening that I could not get back in time from the funeral and burial of my last surviving and close uncle to visit the house and pay my respects in person. My deepest sympathy to Olive. Your loss was so quick. I can understand a little because my loss was quick, but not as quick as yours, and still after over 10 years the pain still hurts.

Dr. Bodeker was my German lecturer in Sligo IT for 3 years and organised our international year in Kempten, where he came to visit his students. He retired the year we graduated. He was so interesting to listen to and learn from. He made college fun! I am lucky to have been one of his students. My sincere condolences to his family on the passing of a great man.
